SUMMARY:Smart Data Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:ITS UK and the Open Data Institute (ODI)\, one of the country’s leading data organisations\, are organising a roundtable on smart transport data\, taking place on 3 October from 12pm – 3pm. \nEarlier this year\, the then-Government set out the Smart Data Roadmap\, listing a number of key sectors where it believed smart data could have a significant benefit. Transport was listed as one of the industries where a new approach to smart data could lead to better information and greater access to the transport network. Following the Roadmap’s publication\, the new Government published a Digital Information and Smart Data Bill to enable new innovative uses of data to improve people’s lives. \nAt this Roundtable\, ITS UK and ODI will be looking to explore the role of smart data in a transport context. We will share learnings from other industries where smart data has progressed and discuss what a smart data approach could mean for transport providers and suppliers\, the Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) sector and the wider transport network. The roundtable will gather key industry leaders from transport and data\, in what will be a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas and shape a united vision for the transport technology industry. \nThis event is for Executive Members only – to secure a registration link\, please email contact@its-uk.org.

SUMMARY:Transport After the General Election
DESCRIPTION:How will a new UK Government de-carbonise\, fund and deliver a sustainable transport system? \nNet zero\, transport reform\, funding and delivery remain the big challenges facing the transport industry. With a General Election due this year\, this event by the Transport Times will feature expert discussion on what the response and approach of the new government might be. \nDuring this event the following will be discussed: \n\nThe imminent pre-legislative scrutiny of the draft Rail Reform Bill – will there be cross party support and will Great British Railways and vertical integration be delivered in full? What role will the private sector play going forward?\nNetwork North has replaced the northern leg of HS2 – will this continue to be the case or will High Speed 2 be resurrected? How will improved connectivity and additional capacity be realised and what role will the Rail Network Enhancement Pipeline play in the future?\nDevolution of transport powers across rail and bus are seen as vital for creating the favourable conditions for achieving affordable\, joined-up public transport networks to provide viable alternatives to private cars. How high a priority will further devolution of powers be so that City Regions can plan and deliver these crucial transport networks and services and achieve behavioural change?\nWill the next Government be brave enough to champion and fund the green policies necessary to achieve Net Zero or will populism be a serious threat to de-carbonisation?\n\nThis one day conference will bring together key decision-makers\, practitioners and thinkers to discuss and debate what the transport industry may look like after the General Election \nTo receive 10% off your booking\, individuals should tick the relevant box highlighting they are an ITS UK member at checkout. \n
