DESCRIPTION:The Advocacy and Public Affairs Group provides the opportunity for attendees to hear from key speakers covering policy or comms in the sector\, followed by an in-depth update on ITS UK’s Advocacy & Public Affairs Plan\, and a dive into ‘what’s next?’ for our lobbying activity. \nIn this session\, ITS UK will provide a mid-year update on a busy six months representing the sector which has included multiple parliamentary events\, a host of consultations\, a select committee hearing\, and several meetings with senior politicians. Lauren oversees TfL’s business intelligence / data science strategy\, TfL’s data technical platform development\, as well as support for data products and services. Lauren has worked for TfL in various roles since 2002. \n  \n \nDarren Capes\, Head of Road Infrastructure Technology\, Department for Transport\nDarren Capes FIET FIHE was appointed as Head of Road Infrastructure Technology at Department for Transport (DfT) in May. Darren had spent the previous seven years as DfT’s Intelligent Transport Systems Policy Lead\, having initially joined the department on secondment from his role as Transport Systems Manager for the City of York\, a position he had held for 17 years. Darren started his career   in transport as an engineering technician with Humberside County Council in 1986. \n  \nAdam Hill\, Editor\, ITS International Magazine\nAdam Hill is a traffic nerd and editor of global urban mobility magazine ITS International. He is also a public transport user by instinct\, a highly-skilled pedestrian and occasional motorist. ITS International Magazine is the global business title dedicated to advanced technology for traffic management and urban mobility. \n  \n \nToufic Machnouk\nManaging Director\, GBRX \nToufic Machnouk is managing director of GBRX\, the strategic innovation body established to pioneer breakthrough technologies and innovations that solve some of the sectors most intractable modernisation challenges. SUMMARY:Executive Dinner with Richard Pedley
DESCRIPTION:ITS UK’s Executive Dinner Programme provides a set of four dinners over the course of the year\, exclusively for our Executive Membership\, providing the opportunity for around 30 senior representatives from these organisations to hear from a key decision maker on their priorities and aims going forward. \nOur second Executive will take place in London with Guest Speaker Richard Pedley\, Chief Digital and Information Officer at National Highways. Rich joined then-Highways England in May 2020 as Technology Programmes Director\, having previously worked at National Grid. He leads National Highways’ digital transformation initiatives and has been instrumental in transitioning the organisation from a traditional IT function to a more agile Digital Services team\, laying the groundwork for a digitally enabled future. \nRich will speak to Executive Members about the industry can support better information for road users\, improve safety and reduce congestion. He will cover approaches to data and supporting innovation. \nWe offer one place per Executive Member on a first come\, first served basis. To register\, please email contact@its-uk.org. Details of the venue will be shared with registrants. \nWith thanks to our sponsors: \n \n \n \n  \n\n \nAbout Richard Pedley\nRichard Pedley is the Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO) at National Highways\, the government-owned company responsible for England’s motorways and major A roads. He was appointed to this permanent role in December 2022\, following a period serving in an interim capacity since June of that year. \nIn his role as CDIO\, Pedley leads National Highways’ digital transformation efforts\, focusing on integrating digital\, data\, and technology (DDaT) strategies into the organisation’s core operations. Under his leadership\, the IT directorate has evolved into a Digital Services division\, enhancing the delivery of digital services across the business. This transformation includes the establishment of an Agile Centre of Excellence\, training over 200 staff members in agile methodologies\, and implementing a new demand management process to better align digital services with business goals. ​ \nPedley’s background includes a career in the British Army as a Royal Engineer\, specialising in Geographic Information Systems and Aerial Reconnaissance. Following his military service\, he held senior IT leadership roles in various organizations\, including the BBC\, E.ON\, Jaguar Land Rover\, Severn Trent Water\, and the Environment Agency\, where he served as Head of Programme Delivery and Deputy CIO. His experience spans infrastructure programs\, business partnering\, program delivery\, strategy\, and cybersecurity. \n  \n
