SUMMARY:Local Government Exchange
DESCRIPTION:ITS UK’s first Local Government Exchange will bring together the transport technology sector with local councillors and decision-makers to explore how industry can support local priorities and policy objectives. \nThe inaugural event will take place in Derby\, shortly after the local elections on 7 May 2026. We will invite policymakers from across the East Midlands\, particularly local councillors\, but also MPs and Peers\, and bring them together with ITS UK members to discuss the key challenges and opportunities facing the transport network. \nThis inaugural event will aim for half of those in the room to be from the public sector\, providing meaningful discussion between transport technology companies and public sector decision-makers. \n\nHow does it work?\nThe event will be evenly split between public sector and industry representatives: \n\n50% local councillors (prioritised)\, as well as MPs and Peers from the East Midlands (25 tickets)\n50% ITS UK members (25 tickets)\n\nThere will be five themed discussion tables\, each focused on a priority area for transport policy in the East Midlands: \n\nSafety\nCongestion\nPublic Transport\nActive Travel\nInnovation\n\nLocal government attendees will rotate between tables\, joining the discussions most relevant to their interests and responsibilities. SUMMARY:DBT & DfT Smart Data in Transport Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Following the publication of the Smart Data Strategy in March\, the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and Department for Transport (DfT) are exploring how Smart Data in the transport sector  can improve the way transport services are planned\, delivered and experienced. \nSmart Data is the secure\, voluntary sharing of customer data with authorised third parties (ATPs)\, enabling the development of innovative services that can improve outcomes for individuals and businesses\, boost competition\, and support more informed decision‑making. Building on the success of the Open Banking Scheme – through which financial data became more accessible\, secure\, and interoperable for consumers – Government is looking to enable similar Smart Data schemes across other sectors to drive growth and innovation. You can read more about the Government’s plans in the recently published Smart Data Strategy. \nThis workshop\, organised on behalf of DBT and DfT by ITS UK\, will gather the industry’s views of where a Smart Data scheme in transport could have the greatest benefit and impact\, where a scheme could have the most need and how Government can work with the sector to drive Smart Data forward. The workshop will take place on 9 June from 10.30 to 3pm at the Clayton Hotel in Birmingham. To attend\, please register via the link below. Please note\, by registering you consent to having your information shared with the DBT and DfT teams organising this event with ITS UK. \nAn agenda will be shared with attendees ahead of the event. \nOrganised by ITS UK on behalf of:\n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n\nRegister here\n
