AESIN – ITS UK Joint Response to Developing the Automated Vehicles Regulatory Framework
This response is a joint submission on behalf ITS UK, the Automotive Electronic Systems Innovation Network (AESIN) and the respective members of both organisations to the consultation on Developing the Automated Vehicles Regulatory Framework.
Following the passing of the AV Act in 2024, the Framework sets out in greater detail the legal framework for the safe, legal, and authorised deployment of self-driving vehicles on Great Britain’s roads.
The Framework aims to shifts liability from human drivers to companies (Authorised Self-Driving Entities) when the vehicle is in control, requiring strict, ongoing “in-use” safety, cyber-security, and data monitoring.
In this response, AESIN and ITS UK present their views on the key technical areas of the consultation.
