Mosaiq processes 10 billion monthly bus “heartbeats” worldwide
Transit intelligence platform reaches milestone as operators seek clearer insight from growing volumes of network data
Snapper Services has announced its Mosaiq Transit Intelligence Platform is now processing more than 10 billion real-world bus “heartbeats” every month across networks in 31 countries.
A “heartbeat” is a GPS signal transmitted regularly by a vehicle in service. Analysed at scale, these signals help operators and authorities identify recurring operational issues, distinguish anomalies from patterns, and improve network performance.
The milestone reflects growing demand from operators for better use of existing operational data, including AVL, GTFS-RT, SIRI, and RTPI feeds.
“Transit teams are not short of data – they’re overwhelmed by it,” said Miki Szikszai, CEO of Snapper Services. “The value comes from understanding why delays happen, where patterns emerge, and what action should be taken. Heartbeat data helps reveal that operational reality.”
Snapper said Mosaiq’s large-scale data processing capabilities allow operators and authorities to move beyond isolated incidents and identify underlying causes of delays, bunching, and reliability issues.
For example, a single late-running trip may be an anomaly. But repeated delays at the same location and time each week can indicate a timetable, traffic, or infrastructure issue worth addressing.
“The breadth of data we process globally also improves context for individual networks by exposing our team to a wide range of operating conditions, including high-frequency urban routes, event surges, and seasonal timetable changes,” said Szikszai.
Sam Greaves, Commercial Manager at LibertyBus, said: “The Mosaiq team is very good with data, they understand bus data and the real insights needed to improve bus operations, which is really valuable.”
