  • The smartmicro MLR SR2 helps local authorities better support cyclists, buses and general traffic at signalised junctions.
  • It reduces installation disruption and ongoing maintenance compared with traditional inductive loops.
  • The radar provides valuable network insight alongside day-to-day signal detection, helping authorities plan and manage more effectively.

Yunex Traffic has announced the UK availability of smartmicro MLR SR2, a radar-based traffic detection solution designed to help local authorities improve how traffic signals respond to different road users while reducing disruption on the road network.

As towns and cities continue to prioritise active travel, public transport reliability and safer streets, there is a growing need for detection technology that reflect how people actually move through the network.  The smartmicro MLR SR2 helps authorities respond more effectively by identifying a wider range of road users, including cyclists, buses and general traffic.

This allows signal strategies to better match local transport priorities, whether that means supporting bus priority, improving crossing provision, or helping create more responsive junctions for all road users.

One system, multiple benefits

A key benefit of the solution is that is supports both real-time traffic signl detection and continuous data collection from the same roadside asset.  This give authorities a clearer picture of how their network is being used, while also reducing the need for separate traffic surveys or temporary counting deployments.

As the system is installed above ground, it can also help reduce the disruption and cost often associated with traditional inductive loops, particularly at busy or complex junctions.  It can be used at new sites or introduced as an upgrade at existing smartmicro MLR installations where appropriate.

Enabling better decision-making

The solution also integrates with Yunex Traffic’s Stratos platform, giving authorities greater visibility of network performance and supporting more informed, evidence-based decision-making over time.

“Local authorities need traffic technology that supports the way towns and cities are changing.” said Wilke Reints, Managing Director Yunex Traffic UK.  “The smartmicro MLR SR2 helps authorities better support cycling and public transport, while also reducing disruption and providing the insight needed to manage networks more effectively.”

With smartmicro MLR SR2 now available in the UK, Yunex Traffic UK is helping local authorities modernise traffic detection in a say that supports safer, more inclusive and better-managed road networks
