“This is a key moment in the development of Great British Railways, and we wish him well in his new role and look forward to working with him as GBR becomes a reality.

“As GBR takes shape further, it is important that it recognises the central role of the rail supply sector, which delivers some two-thirds of UK rail investment and drives high quality jobs and economic growth in all areas of the country.

“We and the supply chain have had many collaborative discussions in the creation of GBR already, and are committed to working with Sir John and the full GBR leadership team in the months and years ahead.”
