ITS UK responds to Chancellor’s announcement of City Region Transport Funding
The Government has today announced £15.6 billion of funding for transport across the UK’s City Regions.
Following the announcement by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, ITS UK Chief Executive Max Sugarman, said: “It’s great to see City Regions – including a number of ITS UK members – receive funding today for transport projects ahead of the Spending Review, and particularly to see the Chancellor emphasise the importance of an integrated transport system within her speech.
“The funding used for the development of new mass transit systems announced today must be part of a wider strategy to make our transport system more joined-up and seamless, through data and digital technology. ITS UK and our members are looking forward to working with the City Regions and Government to ensure the new railway lines, bus corridors, trams and active travel networks announced today function as one integrated system, for the benefit of the travelling public.”
