Claire Spooner is the Director of Mobility at Innovate UK, where she leads the UK’s transport innovation agenda with vision and impact.

At the heart of the nation’s Net Zero mission, she drives strategic programmes that accelerate the transition to a sustainable economy, overseeing initiatives across aerospace, automotive, shipping, and rail.  As a key member of Innovate UK’s Net Zero team, Claire manages a comprehensive transport portfolio spanning every mode of mobility and related innovation. With more than a decade of experience delivering high-profile programmes across UKRI, she combines deep technical expertise with behavioural and social science insight to craft interdisciplinary solutions.

Her leadership advances decarbonisation, productivity, and sustainable growth, with a focus on breakthrough areas such as AI, EV batteries, hydrogen technologies, and low-carbon infrastructure.  Renowned for her collaborative approach, Claire works closely with industry, academia, and government to tackle complex transport challenges and deliver lasting impact for the UK and beyond.
