Michael Power

Transformation Director, Informed Solutions

Michael Power (Manchester, England) is a Transformation Director at Informed Solutions. Informed Solutions delivers digital, data and AI solutions that help make the world a smarter, safer, greener, and healthier place.

Michael’s transport sector experience spans both the public and private sectors, across data and AI, cybersecurity operational resilience, and digital twins.
He plays a lead role in the transport sector development at Informed, as well as programme delivery, specialising in delivering national digital services that interoperate effectively across organisational boundaries. His experience of both supporting transport policy definition and solution implementation means he can bring broad practical experience, knowledge and insight to the ITS Digital Transport Forum

Michael’s experience includes over 15 years of defining and delivering solutions to support integrated transport networks, logistics and final mile optimisation, airport operations, digital twins and central government.

He is Informed Solutions’ lead for the UK’s National Digital Twin Programme (NDTP), supporting the development of standards, approaches and tooling to enable digital twins that are safe, secure and trustworthy. These solutions bring together data sharing, AI, and data visualisation to support enhanced policy and operational decision-making.
His delivery experience also includes establishing an Enterprise GIS capability for Royal Mail, combining best-in-class spatial tools and data, to support optimisation of “first and final mile” logistic operations. The system supports over 2,000 concurrent users a day, to optimise over 50,000 delivery routes, across approximately 12,000 delivery overviews and collection units.
He also led the delivery of the Department for Transport’s ‘Drive in a Clean Air Zone’ service, which required designing an interoperable solution to integrate physical (e.g. ANPR camera network, roadside sensors) and digital transport infrastructure from 7 local authorities — each with differing data models and technical implementations — into a single central service. This averages over 99.9% uptime per month, and processes over 100,000 transactions a day.

Michael also led Informed’s work for the Department for Transport’s Vehicle Emissions Trading Schemes, designing and implementing a new digital service for monitoring emissions compliance across over 60 manufacturers. The service seamlessly integrates with existing DfT, DVLA and vehicle manufacturer tools and processes, all which have their own disparate technical architecture and data models.

Michael is a PRINCE2 Agile Certified Practitioner and an ITIL v4 Certified Delivery Manager, and holds a BA in Economics and Politics from the University of Manchester. He also leads Informed Solutions’ internal Delivery Management Community.

Outside of work, Michael enjoys cycling, swimming and running, following cricket & football, and spending time with his family.
