UK suppliers of roadside ITS technology and in-vehicle systems are being invited to showcase their technology live at the ITS World Congress 2027 at the NEC in Birmingham, as part of the Connected Vehicle Ecosystem (CVE).

With the Congress returning to the UK for the first time since 2006, this is a significant opportunity for UK suppliers to put proven roadside infrastructure and in-vehicle systems in front of an event attracting 15,000 delegates from transport authorities, government and industry from the UK and around the world.

Why get involved?

Participation in the CVE will provide an opportunity to:

• Showcase your roadside or in-vehicle technology live to a UK and international ITS audience
• Show how your roadside infrastructure can exchange data and work alongside other technologies in vehicle within a connected ecosystem
• Raise the profile of your organisation and its capabilities
• Be part of a major showcase of UK connected transport capability at the first ITS World Congress held in the UK for more than 20 years

There will be no participation fee for successful applicants, although suppliers will be responsible for their own deployment and staffing costs. No further funding will be available.

There will be further Calls for both commercial demonstrations, where promoters pay to have a single focussed demonstration of their product /service, and an innovation zone to promote innovative services which do not meet the CVE criteria and/or are not commercially proven.

What is the Connected Vehicle Ecosystem?

The CVE will bring together roadside infrastructure and in-vehicle systems to showcase how they support policy aims for transport network operations and road safety.

This could include roadside technologies such as sensors, cameras, radar and other connected infrastructure, alongside in-vehicle systems capable of receiving, using and displaying information and providing alerts through the CVE, as well as acting as sensors.

It builds on the successful TTF Live 2026 event at Hinckley where services from 13 suppliers were brought together and demonstrated through one connected ecosystem. For Birmingham 2027, the ambition is to take that concept to a much larger international stage by bringing more roadside and in-vehicle technologies to showcase UK capability in connected transport.

How will the live showcase work?

Delegates will travel on buses around a designated network of private NEC service roads, where participating roadside technology and infrastructure will be deployed.

As the buses travel around the route, in-vehicle systems will receive and display messages and alerts generated through the CVE, allowing delegates to experience the interaction between roadside technology, real-time data and in-vehicle services first-hand.

The NEC service roads carry normal business traffic and provide a mix of operating environments and speeds of up to 30mph, enabling a range of urban and non-urban use cases.

A significant static and parking area will also be available for roadside and connected technologies requiring a more controlled environment, including services involving vulnerable road users (VRUs).

Who are we looking for?

We particularly want to hear from UK-based suppliers in two areas:

1. Roadside technology and infrastructure

Proven, commercially available or very near to market technology capable of being deployed on or alongside the road network and connecting into the CVE.

2. In-vehicle systems

Technology capable of receiving, using or displaying real-time information, messages and alerts from the connected ecosystem within a vehicle.

Technology should be capable of supporting the CVE through real-time data exchange and/or in-vehicle messaging and show a clear policy aligned benefit to transport network operations and/or road safety.

Solutions should either be market-ready and already in use in the UK or sufficiently developed to be shown live as a working pilot or proof of concept to deliver UK policy outcomes.

Final participation will be subject to the above selection criteria and at the discretion of the organisers.
